But Why?

A new level of security has been added to the iPhone 3GS. This is known as the "ECID" field. When iTunes begins the restore process on your phone, Apple’s servers are contacted to generate a unique signature for your device. It is important that you identify these signatures before a new software version comes out for your phone.

Luckily, this has been made very simple by GeoHot and purplera1n. Don’t wait any longer to do this, if you want to be able to successfully jailbreak!

 

Warning: This does not work with the new iPhone 3GS yet. Works only on iPhone 2g and 3g jailbroken phones. We will inform you when the jailbreak is ready for 3GS.

The DevTeam has released "ultrasn0w" which is a tool to unlock your phone- right from your phone!

All you have to do is:

-turn off your 3G

-open your Cydia or Icy application

-install their repo, and run ultasn0w!

 

 

                                                                          

-Turn off 3G

-Add the repo "repo666.ultrasn0w.com" to Cydia or Icy. ("0" in sn0w is the number zero).

-Search for "ultrasn0w", install and reboot your phone.
